MOREABOUT
Hidetaka Fukaya
Fukaya Hidetaka has had a passion for craftsmanship since he was a child, learning the basics of shoemaking while attending design school. He then decided to become a bespoke shoemaker, travelled to Italy alone and founded his own brand, "il micio," in 1999. His talent was eventually recognized by Franco Minucci, owner of the famous Florence store "Tie Your Tie," and he became the first Japanese person to set up a bespoke atelier overseas. Fukaya's design sense is highly regarded, and he has grown to the point where he receives requests from many select shops and celebrities.

Inheriting tradition and history, shoes are works of art
il micio creates works of art in the form of shoes, while passing on the traditions and history of shoemakers that have been passed down for over 100 years. For the owner, these are one-of-a-kind pieces of work, designed by craftsmen in the shape of shoes that represent the life they have lived up to that point.
