Florentine tradition meets playfulness in one bag

The allure of bespoke is that it is a "one-of-a-kind piece made exclusively for you." Could we bring that special joy to our ready-to-wear customers, too? This question was the inspiration behind this tote bag. It is a reversible design, featuring our original PVC-treated marble print fabric paired with pieces of Vacchetta leather. The design and production were developed by Fukaya during his extended stay in Japan. He shaped the bag by weaving together the craftsmanship sensibilities he cultivated in Florence with the daily attire he observed while spending time in Japan.

The inspiration came from the traditional Florentine art of paper marbling. Deeply drawn to its beauty, he visited workshops to learn the techniques and philosophy directly from the artisans. He then imagined how intriguing it would be to depict il micio’s iconic cats playing and dancing freely amidst the flowing marble patterns. Through trial and error and repeated manual experimentation, we finally perfected the ideal pattern by fusing traditional handcraft with computer graphics. Furthermore, the positioning of the cats varies with every cut of the material. Even with the same pattern, no two bags have the exact same expression. Despite being mass-produced, each one is a one-of-a-kind piece. Therein lies a special encounter, much like a bespoke creation.

A major highlight of this bag is its reversible nature, allowing you to enjoy two aesthetics—black-and-white marble and brown marble—in a single piece. One side is chic and modern, while the other offers a soft, warm impression. By choosing which side to show according to your outfit, you can enjoy completely different atmospheres with one bag. Moreover, the sophisticated monochrome look of White × Black and the elegant, glamorous look of Brown × Gold are both seasonless, naturally complementing light spring/summer styles as well as the deep, rich tones of autumn and winter. The fabric is made of canvas treated with PVC, ensuring high water resistance and durability. While providing the practicality for carefree daily use, it expresses respect for Florentine traditional crafts and the characteristic playfulness of il micio.
